I have the “Compaq v2000 – Celeron M 1.4GHZ†and have upgraded almost everything on there I can but the CPU, I am wondering if someone can’t point me in the right direction to determine the MAX CPU this computer will take?

The Celeron M 1.4GHZ is a Socket 479?

The fastest S479 is a Pentium M 780 (2.3GHz) but you need to make sure your motherboard supports it as well.

I managed to talk to Compaq tech support to get their take on it. I was told
"Intel Pentium M 770 (2.13-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB", you were right on the money patjeffe.

I have been digging around and can't seem to find the 400MHZ version? If I pick up the 533 MHz chip will it "down grade" it to 400MHz?
