LOL, lets see, single core VIA, 512 memory, DVD CD-RW (not DVD rw), unknown PSU....
Right.

Go ahead and get that, and for $300 we can upgrade everything to make it what you want.

Eh, If you're building such a cheap computer, and not overclocking, I think that AMD would be a better choice.

The following is the same price for CPU+Mobo, except the processor runs at 2.4 instead of 1.8, the motherboard has better onboard graphics, and a better audio chipset.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103751

Also, save some cash and go for G-Skill RAM, there is no way a 300$ computer needs Ballistix (unless you really like mail in rebates)

I agree, my $40 PCCHIPS board has been rock solid with 25% overclock on CPU and near 20% overclock on memory for over 3 months now.

The thing is, the RAM is only DDR667. I want to give him DDR800. But yes, it can be an alternative. I need to find out if the client is willing to spend a bit more money for a solid build.

Again, when you throw in shipping + tax, it goes over.

While I tend to agree in most cases, the board and CPU I have are cheaper the the AMD you have (I can't believe I typed that, I am so ashamed).

The difference between DDR2 667 and 800 is not enough to worry about in this case.
