Need Help Overclocking An E6550

Thread Starter
hey guys as stated in the title, i do need help overclocking my E6550 because i want better performance in some of my games. For starters i've already looked through the other threads and found out that "Xx573v3xX_Z28" had overclocked his e6550 on the stock cooler around 3.3mhz and i was hoping if anyone could walk me through it since i've lately been OC'ing my 8600GT and now i just started on my cpu. my motherboard is the gigabyte p35-DS3L and my ram is just some cheap koniq or whatever name it is (2) 1GB DDR2-667. I've went through my bios and changed my FSB to 400mhz that got me up to supposely "2.8mhz" but through OCCT, CPU-Z, etc it shows up as 2.66mhz. I didn't mess with the cpu voltage, because im quite nervous of frying if it's too high but the default on it is 1.3250000. im trying to break 3.0mhz but i don't know if i can with the crappy ram that i have since before the timings were 5-5-5-15, but since i changed the FSB to 400, it changed to 5-6-6-18 so i don't know.

EDIT:Sorry about the double thread posting in the air cooling sub cat.

help you in a bit on the phone

disable C1E support and Speed STEP

my ram timings are 5-5-5-18
and there sitting at 476MHZ

I can probably hit 3.5ghz on stock cooler if i wanted to but i'm to lazy lately and tired to Stabilize it. lol

I'm buying a tuniq soon because i want idle temps of 25c hehe.
my stock cooler idles at 27-28c

there in the bios disable those and your cpu will run at full speed instead of say 2.6ghz when you have it clocked to 2.9ghz

and also Drop your voltage from 1.35-1.4 volts to something like 1.28-1.30
that will cool it much better. But anything past 3.1ghz i had to hit 1.35volts

and try setting your ram timings to that also. I have mine set to auto and they work flawlessly.
Also have my voltage on the memory at 2.05 volts

Stock my memory is 5-5-5-12 400mhz 1.90volts

Also Put your memory on a 1:1 divider

It wouldn't be under overclocking. It'd be under something cpu.

I don't own that motherboard so not sure.

ehh im not sure because of my BIOS all the tweaking i've done is under that screen that is shown. But would it just be alright to set my ram timings to 5-5-5-12 using a program called "MemSet" because i know i have crappy ram but money for me is kinda tight so i have to deal with it for now.

never use any program to tune your motherboard there highly unstable.

set it to 5-5-5-18 and ur be fine.
It's not under the overclocking screen just like my cpu. It should be under something called like mine CPU configuration

My ram is as cheap as yours my friend, I payed 32 dollars for it hahahah and all the ram is on one side of the PCB check if yours is as well.

see i don't know if i should try to apply 5-5-5-18 on using "MemSet" as shown on my screen. But also my Ram is split one on each side.

EDIT: after going through a quick check in my bios got the C1E disabled in the "Advanced BIOS settings"
