The robots in use aren't intelligent by any means or self-replicating. They are controller remotely......they have an article on them in one of the recent Popular Mechanics magazines.

i could see something like this being turned into private security systems..

like a store that the robot is programed to attack anything that moves after store hours.. or for in banks for the same reason.

simple task. based on what time it is. to kill any motion.

a similar system could even be used to control our borders. say goodbye drug smugglers? have a defensive wall where ever there is not a border checkpoint. have warning signs and fences.. anything crosses.
