What separates this from a flight simulator? I love flight simming... If I was into sailing, I'd probably enjoy this game. I'm sure there are tons of other boats you can drive - I would imagine being the captain of one a huge oil tanker is akin to piloting a 747 in the flight world?
It's probably really realistic, allowing you to navigate with gps, map and compass, or just by the stars or something
I think the graphics should really be better though... With a naval-based game like this they don't have to map the entire earth like they did in FSX.... They've just got to model the coastline and every island on the earth - a much easier feat. The graphics are really inexcusable I think.
Aside from the graphics, I don't see why people are knocking this game. Actually I see why people are making fun, but I don't agree with it at any rate. Simulators aren't for everyone - I know I would be probably be bored to tears by this game - but obviously there's a market for it so there must be some people out there who play it.
I know submarine sims, for example, are/were fairly popular back in the day, too. My Dad used to love playing a submarine sim we had on our computer, and he's an MIT professor. The target market for these games is obviously just not same as it would be for, say, CS:S
...But to answer the question.... Maybe. If I was into sailing and it was the winter and I couldn't get out onto the water or something, then maybe I would. Flight sims are a great way for me to satisfy the flying craving I get every now and then, and I would imagine games like this are the same way for naval junkies. The graphics are really pretty hideous though =/
Then again, it's obviously a low-budget release... I mean, there's a market for it, but how many people are really going to buy this? There's probably a couple thousand people out there eagerly awaiting the release of it, and those are the only people who will ever see it
I guess the graphics aren't really that
bad, all things considered. If you compare them to FSX graphics they're pretty decent, considering the low budget.
