Would it be possible to put a E8400 or something in there. it says Core 2 Duo so I'm guessing you could. Cause it be far better power comsuption than a conroe.

no its is a different socket (socket M). you will have to wait for the 45nm mobile versions

nope just socket M it has the same amount of pins but a different layout just like AMDs 939 and AM2

honestly though man i dont think it's worth it to do barebone, you're not saving much money - plus no warranty then. you get a 1 year from manufacturers, laptops are alot more prone to 'injury' ... in the US u can get a high-end laptop with a c2d, 2gb, 200gb hd or like 650 on sale.

In the UK a high end costs too much. the barebone i just designed is highly better. Especially since i can have any operating system I want.

I just got a mint used DELL XPS M1710 on ebay for 1360$ If you scour the interwebs you can find some good deals. Especially refurbs and used stuff.
