Music/Video Workstation + Gaming System Specs and Help!?

Hello everyone at OCN!

Im currently building myself a new Music and Video Workstation that I want to play some Awesome games on in the near future and i want your opinion on these parts im buying.

Im planning on running some heavy Image, Video and Audio processing software that use alot of CPU, and i want the perfect RAM for this system. I cant really descide what RAM i should pic. I have never Overclocked before but i dont find it scary either and would love to try it out.
I also intend on having this comp for a few years (upgrading and whatnot) so please keep that in mind
and yes, i know my GPU sucks, im buying a better one later

Here are the parts for the new build: ------------------------------

Socket 755,ATX,DDR2 Based

PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 600W ATX
MOBO: Asus P5E WS Pro iX38 4DDR2-DIMM 2PCI 3PCIe SATA Raid Audio GB-LAN Firewire Socket775 ATX
CPU: Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9550 2.83GHz 12MB FSB1333 Socket 775
SOUND: E-mu 1616M PCI
OS/PROG HDD: Seagate Barracuda 160GB 7200rpm 8MB SATA2
STORE/IDLE HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200rpm 16MB UDMA100 IDE (IDE/SATA converter)
CASE: Silverstone TJ07 "Temjin" Miditower Black ATX
GPU: GeForce 8300GS 180MB DDR2 (i told you...) i have this just to get the system up and running
OS: Windows XP, SP2
OTHER :Mouse,keyboard,Monitor,Dvdrom etc..

And now for the RAM. I have thought of getting one of these: ---------

Mushkin XP2-8500 2x1024MB (tot. 2048MB) DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz 5-5-4-12

Crucial DDR2 BallistiX TRACER PC8500 2048MB CL5 Kit, 240pin, 1066mhz, LED`s (TIMINGS UNSTATED)
(there is the same Ballistix without the TRACER thing and it's cheaper??)

Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF Dominator 2x1024MB(tot. 2048MB) XMS2-8500 1066MHz (TIMINGS UNSTATED)

Mushkin XP2-6400 2x1024MB (tot. 2048MB) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz 4-4-3-10 <- only 6400/800MHz.. )
Any other suggestions are very welcome!

Here are my questions: --------------------------

1. Is this system even gonna run? Is the MOBO/PSU up for the Job?

2. What RAM would give the best performance/capacity ratio?
What would you recommend? Note the MOBO is a ASUS P5E. (PC2-6400, PC2-5300, PC2-9600, PC2-8500)

3. I know The Asus P5-e MOBO im buying have a overpower/bios problem and i dont really know if the PSU im buying will have enough power once i install a Good Graphics card and Overclock the RAM.

4. The Crucial BallistiX and Corsair RAMS dont have their Timing stated. HELP!!!
and what is XMS2?? the others have PC2.

Well, There you have it. I would love to hear your opinions on this system, also the RAM. Thanks for the help!

I have the same motherboard and have 4gb of corsair xms2 6400 ram, my timings are 5-5-5-18 but you can get the same ram with 4-4-4-12 timings for a little more

Just a quick question; if you upgraded/downgraded your BIOS, did you have any problem with the Voltage or Timings in the RAM?

Im still afraid my PSU wont cut it

if you are doing video/music, you want as much ram as you can get. I do light audio analysis and photoshop and I max out my 4gb of ram A LOT. I would get a 64bit operating system and 8gb of ram if I were you.

I would look at 2 sets of...

Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 EPP Dual Channel Memory Kit

G.SKILL F2-6400CL4D-4GBPK PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit

Mushkin XP PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit

I am a fan of mushkin. I have alos heard good things about the patriot extreme ram, and g.skill is always an option. good prices too.

I have never heard of that psu brand so regardless of the specs I wouldnt touch it...bad psu's kill every other part of your pc so I would get something a little better if at all possible. The watts dont matter THAT much. If you are not going sli you could probably run on a 500 watt xclio goodpower if you can get one over there. My psu is great. Also the corsair 550 watt is good for semibudget.

I read alot of users on this forum has a crush on the BallistiX RAM though mainly the 6400..
But what would be better to get?:

Mushkin XP2-8500 4x1024MB (4GB) DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz 5-5-4-12
or
Mushkin XP2-6400 4x1024MB (4GB) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz 4-4-3-10

My eyes always focus on the 1066MHz 8500 <3 and fast transfer rates is something i will need.

This would mean the 600W is a GO even when im overclocking this system to over 3.5GHz with a good GPU and RAM timings?

BeQuiet 600W PSU:

I was looking for a quiet, good quality PSU with alot of connectivity. beQuiet always got good reviews and has a three year warranty, so i thought i go with this.
