Can someone help me? I don't know what he meant on how to flash the bios. I downloaded everything, did what I thought he meant to do and it does nothing like what he says when I startup. Its a bit confusing.

Ok i have my Q6600 overclocked to 2.7 gig

My CPU Config
Unlinked
QDR: 1200
Mem: 800
Vcore: 1.33
NB: Auto

I haven't reseat the NB with OCZ freezer so should i up my NB Voltage

First of all how high are you wanting to go? You can make 3ghz by following the guide in my sig.

Basically you will have to downgrade your BIOS to 608 following the guide and change these settings in the new BIOS.

1. Access your Bios: Advanced>JumperFree Configuration.
2. Change AI Tuning to Manual
3. Select FSB & Memory Config
4. Set these values
FSB Memory Clock Mode = Unlinked
FSB-Memory Ratio = Sync
FSB (QDR), MHz = 1333
MEM (DDR), MHz = 667
5. Now go back to the Advanced menu FSB & Memory Config>JumperFree Configuration>Advanced

6. Press F10 and Save.
7. Reboot and you should be running 3ghz

why lower the memory speed? Im new to this stuff, but i dont get why to lower the memory speed. Im trying to make things faster lol. can you explain that in layman's terms lol.

"Changing the FSB number helps you change the frequency of the CPU. In other words making it go faster.

1. The Quadrupled FSB/CPU FSB number is really interesting. yes when it says 266.7x8 = 2133 it does mean that but to actually get the gigahertz you are going for you need to find the quadrupled FSB so here we go...MATH TIME!!

Your multiplier is 8
Your CPU FSB speed is 266.7 (We will touch on this in a bit)
Your CPU Speed is 2.13ghz
Your Quadrupled FSB is 1066 (In essence 266.7x4)

Say we want 3ghz, what does our FSB need to be with a 8x multi? And since we need to input the Quadrupled rate in the FSB box for the P5N we need to divide that number by 2

1)Thus this equation F=S/M (Where F is CPU FSB, S is speed you want, and M is the multiplier) to get the CPU FSB.

2)To get the Quadrupled FSB use this equation QF=S/2 (Where QF is the Quadrupled FSB)

So to get 3ghz we need to know the quadrupled FSB we use equation 2)

QF = 3000(in mhz)/2

QF = 1500 on an 8x multi

The equations in bold will help you determin the CPU FSB and the Quadrupled FSB

2. The memory is DDR which means double data rate, in essence 2x the FSB of the memory. Thus the memory that says it is 667mhz is really 333.5x2.

Also when it say the memory is PC5400, PC6700, and PC8000 they are really representing these frequencies 667mhz, 800mhz, and 1066mhz, respectively.

This help or make you dizzy? LOL. First time I tried to get my head around it I was really in a pickle. I hope this makes sense and answers your question."

This is from another post of mine.

So when you set the CPU FSB to 1333/4 (QDR) = 333.5 and a MEM FSB of 667/2 (DDR) = 333.5 sets a 1:1 divider. It makes the OC more stable.

This help?

Instead of lowering the RAM why not run really loose Timings such as 5-5-5-15 this will help overclock. I now currently run my Q6600 @ 2.8 thats QDR: 1250 and FSB: 312.5 x 9 with Vcore: 1.315
post #239 of 406
Ok, I still don't get why lol, does lowering the memory speed from 800 to 667, slow down the ram? I just dont get why you would make something slower than the default speed to make it faster.

The amount of stress the motherboard is under.

This motherboard is only a budget low end SLI board. You will just keep getting BSOD mem dumping test every time in windows.

another thing set your timings to 5-5-5-15 they are very loose and make it easier to oc to 3 gig
