Using Diddlers tutorial i managed to oc my p5n-e and q6600 to 3.0ghz.
Unfortunately i get random freezes no matter what speeds i overclock to.

Ive tried most of the settings in this thread, all of which booted.

The freeze isnt a blue screen, it just freezes and i have to hard reset.

The PC can be stable for hours before this happens.
Prime 85 has ran the torture test without errors for 4 hours.
I also ran SETI@home to really heat the cpu and it never got beyond 59C on full load.
Also played Crysis warhead and completed it without problems.
Right now im back down at stock speeds till i get some expert opinions
Any suggestion? the only thing i can think of is the North Bridge could be overheating.

ohh btw , great website and community , i wouldn't have gotten this far without diddler and all your posts thx
run memtest and see if there are any errors...is it completely stable at stock?

Thanks for replying so fast guys

Originally had my Nb voltage set to auto and my Vcore set to 1.32500
Since then ive tried various voltages based on everyone in this thread
Last time it froze i was on

V.Core 1.325
NB 1.39
Mem 2.085
Fsb 1333
Ram 667

Im just about to run memtest
Ill let you know how i get on in a little while
EDIT****

Just ran Memtest86+ from bootdisc and it passed with 0 errors on the ram

Thanks again guys

been running stable on stock speeds for hours now, although i have had it running this long overclocked too.
The freeze problem seems so intermittent and random.I can run stress test after stress and its fine. Then all of a sudden , frozen.

It's been a long time since I've seriously overclocked my CPU, but is there a VTT (fsb) voltage that we can adjust on these boards? If so, I would up it

try running orthos blend, and Intel Burn Test.

Running Orthos/Blend test at the moment.Everything is still running fine at stock speeds.
Couldn't get Intel Burn Test to run, program error.
Ill look into it later and try and get it working too.

Orthos ran without fine without errors at stock speeds.
What i have noticed is my board seems to have terrible Vdroop on the vcore.

So i overclocked again upped the vcore in the bios but when i booted to windows i noticed it was fluctuating between 1.28 and 1.33v.Even if i raised it in the bios i would see no difference in asus probes Vcore.

For the moment ive set the Vcore to 1.3125 and the offset to +100mv .1

Now In windows my vcore doesnt go below 1.33, 1.31 sometimes it spikes to 1.4 but rarley.

Right now i have orthos running twice doing blend test on all 4cpus
Temps are hot, 62C maxed but it seems to be running ok for the moment.

Now been stable for 18 hours
I turned off the offset and upped my Vcore voltage to 1.35

The small fft stress test the cpu would heat up causing even more Vdoop.Sometimes it would get below 1.24.

Since i changed to 1.35 it doesnt dip below 1.28 nor does it freeze

Problem solved

Thanks again for all the suggestions

No problem bro...this board is ****ing kick ass! Who needs PCI-E 2.0, or even 16x bandwith? Show me a benchmark where these two factors make a difference in an SLI setup, and I'll admit defeat
