3ghz Q6600 OC on P5N-E SLi - Page 30

Since i changed to 1.35 it doesnt dip below 1.28 nor does it freeze

Problem solved

Thanks again for all the suggestions
Glad to hear you have hit 3.0Ghz mate but that vdroop seems extremely high. Try getting a HB pencil and trying the pencil mod to see if it improves.

Yeah the Vdroop on my board is terrible.A little is natural but i thought this was a little much
With the voltage at 1.33750 it goes down to 1.26

I think im going to try the pencil mod, but im going to have a look for other tutorials and ways of doing it first.

Ohh btw still stable @ 3ghz thanks again diddler, your tutorial helped me a lot.
The horrible thing was i updated my bios to 1201 just before i read the tut, and i was like @'#£$!!
Fortunatly i was able to boot the flash program from usb stick and install 0608

anyway im away look out some pencils, lol

Ill let you know how it goes

The Pencil mod works great.
Now i can set to 1.31v in the bios and it stays about 1.33v to 1.30v in windows.
Occasionally i see a 1.26v for a millisecond under full load at 66C but it goes straight back.

If you are seeing more voltage in Windows than what you have set in the BIOS, then you have too much graphite with the pencil mod.

Ive always seen more voltage in windows than was set in the bios.
The pencil mod has improved the stability, peaking and Droop.

Now im getting 1.31 and dips to 1.28 at full load.
I still see peaks of 1.33 on idle so ill takes this as a win, its well within my voltage ranges and a serious improvement.

My temps are also down, which is a sign to me that less voltage is being drawn.

win for the pencil mod

I have been running BIOS 0608 very happily at 3GHZ for teh last 8-10 months, have just got Farcry 2 and having issues and looking at all the drivers.
Do any of the more recent P5N-E SLI drivers allow overclocking upto or (betterstill) past 3.0GHZ??

I wouldn't push your luck guys. I tried all sorts and could never get it stable for an extended length of time at anything over 3.0Ghz on that board.
