P5K updated to new BIOS (0903) and S3...

Thread Starter
I just updated my P5K (vanilla) to the latest BIOS 0903. Now, when I try to wake my machine up from S3 (standby), it often just locks up.
I've only running at 2.8Gz and RAM at 1066MHz.
I called ASUS tech support and they said they don't support overclocking! Their solution was for me to try it not overclocked.
Wow. That's a load of cr*p. Anyway, out of desperation, I tried it and you know what? It seems to wake up fine from S3 when I don't overclock. That's a riot. Then I tried not overclocking the RAM. FSB at 400 and RAM at stock 800. Well, that does not reliably fix the wake up problem. I'm really at my wits end. I might try to backout my BIOS upgrade...I'm about to give up on overclocking all together and replace my chip with a new E8400 and NOT overclock it. What a frackin waste! It really sounds sad, but my workflow requires that I use S3. Any ideas?

PS- The S3 thing is only partly because ASUS sucks and my P5K doesn't reliably cold-boot....

I don't know if this can help your problem, but I was searching OCN for "p5k premium" and at the same time browsing the ASUS P5K Premium download pages when I happened across this:

http://support.asus.com/download/dow...remium/WiFi-AP

When you expand the Utilities section scroll down to the bottom of the list. There's something called

"Microsoft KB817900 USB fail to enter S3 patch file for Windows XP"

I don't use S3 so never had the problem you're having, but it sounds like the most obvious solution.
