Help: OCing Q6600 G0 on AB9 Pro, can't get more than 2.9GHz - Page 3

Have updated bios to latest revision 22 without a problem directly from Windows - abit has an excellent utility for this called FlashMenu (liveupdate won't work, just download the bios and use "update from file").

Am I supposed to start OCing by leaving all settings alone and raising the FSB only? This board is giving me all kinds of grief at various settings, so I think I am doing something wrong. Just trying to get a stable 2.7 atm

my bios setting is below

fsb - 340 ---> cpu @ 340x9=3.06ghz
mem - 850mhz 5-5-5-12
vcore - 1.4v
vdimm - 1.9v
mch - 1.3v
core temp full load - 55c

Alright, I'm pretty much convinced at this point that this board sucks

Here's a slew of results from today's attempted overclocks

FSB/Vcore/Vram/Mch

305x9/1.325/2.05/1.30
1)bsod 2)no load
305x9/1.35/2.05/1.30
1)bsod
305x9/1.375/2.05/1.30
1)no load 2)freeze 3)no load
305x9/1.4/2.05/1.30
1)no load 2)bsod

299x9/1.35/2.05/1.30
1)load, sorta stable, prime95 instant fail
299x9/1.375/2.05/1.30
1)bsod
299x9/1.4/2.05/1.30
1) load, then bsod 2) load, bsod in 4 min

300x9/1.35/2.05/1.35
1)bsod
300x9/1.35/2.00/1.35
1) DNB
300x9/1.375/2.1/1.35
1) load, bsod in 5 min
300x9/1.35/1.9/1.35
1) DNB x2

300x9/1.35/2.1/1.35
1) load, freeze 2) load, bsod in 5 min
300x9/1.375/2.05/1.35
1) load, prime95 instant fail
300x9/1.35/1.95/1.35
1) DNB x2

290/1.35/2.05/1.35
1) stable

I can't get past 300fsb with any settings on this board.
I have the latest (v22) bios from 11/06/07
5-5-5-15 OCZ ddr2-800 ram (tested at 1.8 and 1.9 voltages too, doesn't work)

Unless there's something that I have overlooked, I can safely conclude this board is garbage and doesn't overclock well with my q6600 at all. Other people think so too.

Thinking of this board or this one as a replacement.

EDIT: One last thing.. turns out I have 2 diff kits of ram, one 4-5-4-15 and one at 5-5-5-15.. I let the setting in timings slide to auto rather than adjusting them for this reason (i have tried running both 4-4-4-15 and 5-5-5-15, only the latter works).. don't think is the cause of the problem though. They are both OCZ ddr2-800, almost the same models. One is a diff revision than the other, I believe.
