LOL...Oblivion? They did that by not scripting the NPCs and using scaling to auto generate loot and mobs...So then they had all this extra time so they added quests. And for graphics they just got the engine and then randomly generated the countryside and all the dungons come from three different graphic options. Oblivions is a prime example of short cuts to release a game fast with out putting alot of effort and care in it.

They did add alot of quests, but only a few of them match up and form a plot or quest line...it is just a bunch of random quests that some one probally thought up in a few days.

I think it is strange that people feel the same way concerning games, however everybody think most games released nowadays are crap. My main point is that game-developers aren't taking their time and making GOOD games, just good LOOKING games.

Well then you must have a terrible setup with 99% spyware running in the background.....

I've played on an 8600GT at 1680x1050 on low and it runs smoothly. I play on my current setup med-high and it runs smoothly (and I'm talking about multiplayer here....).

I'm not sure what you mean by "struggling"
By struggling I mean that I couldn't get sufficient FPS at a med/high setting with a clean Vista-install. I wanted to run it at 1680*1050 at high, but even on medium I didn't feel the game was smooth enough to say that it is 100% smooth.

I think its more that the developers try to make the games for old + new technology. Giving the new newer stuff(dx10) horrible reqs because it was not specifically programmed for dx10. I do not think this problem is going to be fixed until dx9 is dead and having a dx10 gpu is the norm for mainstream best buy/dell pc's. Like anything else, its just going to take some time.

When was the last time you can remember buying a "high end rig" and it being good enough in the long run? We had a 486 DX2-66 with first 4MB RAM, than 8MB RAM. That is the last computer I can remember being able to stick with the newest games for a while. Now I know technology has gone a long way since then, however it shouldn't be hard for game devs to make high quality games when it comes to everything but graphics. Let me just say that I don't judge a game by its graphics, I judge it by how fun it is in singleplayer, how challanging it is, and how good the story is. Let me say that the last time I played a FUN game with a cool story and lots of challenges was Pitfall for Xbox. You can laugh, but that is how bad the gaming industry is nowadays.

I agree. If we had to settle with one of the current engines that would be it. Now why not build more games upon it? Graphics are smooth and have potential, as well as nice gameplay.

They should use perfect two engines, from different companys.

Not sure why everyone needs to make their own crappy coded engine. (Probably because its cheaper than buying a good engine)

If nvidia gave me $100,000 and told me to make a slightly better graphic engine using a little more feature from their chip enough to make it worthy, and not caring about anything else I would do it.

Yeah, and if Nvidia gave me $100,000 and told me to get stuffed I would get stuffing. Kidding... I agree shajbot, and if you can do so I would suggest you give Nvidia a call and let them know about it
I am just fed up of all these below par games with BAD engines, I just feel sorry for people who buy games based upon the cover in the shelves instead of the Demo.
