I think we need one universal API (directx, openGL, etc.) So that you can play any game you want on ANY operating system without an emulator. My two cents.

Another Problem is the fact that the ppl that finance the creative side of the market dont really understand that quality is better than quantity. they still see things as a "Profit" based busines. (as they should) but to say you have the "next best thing" looks better on paper than saing you've perfected the older outdated game/GFX engine.

And again, the consumer is left to pick up the tab.
