well, I must say that overclocking this board with the E8400 chip is hardly any fun at all. i've pushed my rig up to 3.8Gig without resistance and no complaints from the board at all. no volt increases and completely stable. i havent had to tweak anything at all - only increase the FSB. i'll push it more once i've got the fix for the freezone elite (cpu chiller) in place. should be here tomorrow. temps under full load are holding at 57C. i'm expecting them to drop dramatically once i've replaced the freezone controller unit. i should add that i've seen similar results with other OCs on the E8400/E8500. way to go asus / intel.

Congratz. We have very similar systems. If you have good RAM (PC2-8500) and decide to do the Rampage hack, you can check out my BIOS settings for some ideas HERE. You won't need as much vCore in XP.

If you need information on how to do it and what to be careful about, please do not hesitate to contact me!

You can check out my Maximus Overhaul thread too for pics and tips on the heat sink removal. The best advice I can give is be gentle, and have some acetone to remove the epoxy.

Thanks for the info. I finally hit a wall at 450FSB. No matter what I tweak and how much VCore it wont go beyond 445. I even took VCore up to 1.5v. No luck. I'm going to try some of your settings in my current BIOS before considering the Rampage hack. It does look interesting. With my cooling I'd like to think I can take this E8400 up to around 4.4GHz.

well i figured out part of my problem. stinking vdroop. i've enabled Loadline Calibration in BIOS and this seems to help some, but CPUID still reports a Vcore lower than what i've selected. has anyone else done a vdroop mod on one of these boards? any luck? thoughts?

i've managed to get the FSB up to 449 and am orthos stable, but cant seem to break the 450 barrier. its late and i'm going to bed. think tomorrow i'll try jumping up to 460 on the FSB and see what happens. maybe 450 is just a wall.

Okay, sounds good. Just FYI, though, I don't know if the Rampage BIOS will help you if you're having problems on MF. I was able to achieve pretty much the exact same OC on MF as RF.

There's a chance the RAM is holding you back. 4.23 at 470 is my wall unless I take out two sticks. The 333 strap and 6:5 is generally considered quite stable, so give that a try if you haven't. For me, 1:1 seems to need more vNB and vDIMM. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help (I have a spare MF lying around if you want to borrow it ).

Gee, great minds think alike. I've also got a spare MF board NIB. Thanks for the tips. I'll pull 2 sticks of RAM. Dont need them with XP anyway.
