All BIOS's have no problems with Q6600... Try 0403...

Probably, but TBH I haven't heard of many people use it since the loadline calibration does a good job. I certainly wouldn't use LLC with the pencil mod.

I use the pencil mod because load line calibration is actually a bad thing, theres an anandtech article that explains the purpose of vdroop and why load line calibration can be dangerous. The pencil mod should work just fine on the rampage as they are the same board, it works great for me, vdroop is minimal at lower voltages and higher voltages is perfectly tollerable.

I am currently using 0403 so I'm good there. I'm trying for 3.8ghz. I can do 3.6 on 1.360vcore (as read by cpu-z) so I think 3.8 is possible. My ram may be holding me back but we'll see. I'm at work now but last I checked it was an hour and a half and still priming at 3.8 on 1.418vcore, pll 1.6, nb 1.55, fsbt 1.65, and dram 2.23. Here's hoping.....

I'll keep that in mind.

How are those Ballistix working out for you? Have you OC'ed them to around 1150-1200? I will need to replace my 4x1 Ballistix soon.

LoadLine Calibration is not "bad" by itself, it won't cause a meltdown. What the article just describes, is that if you're pushing your CPU to a Vcore that is close to the voltage limits (say you're doing 1.5V to do 4GHz or pushing your 45nm very close to the 1.45V limit), then LLC would be bad for you...

It does improve Vdroop a little, since in this boards is pretty bad (myself have to do 1.55V to get 1.48V for 3.6GHz)...

LLC will definitely make your CPU run hotter, and stress your power supply more, for sure.

For a mild overclock, say a Q6600 to 3.0GHz, with a good aftermarket cooler, I would say LLC is fine to have it on... but anything that requires a high Vcore, just turn it off ...

Well, I'm still working on the cpu right now so I haven't done much to my ram. Looks like I won't be able to do 3.8 (haven't entirely given up but less optimistic) so I'm trying for 3.7ghz now. I did get around to running 450x8 with ram 1:1 so I know rams not going to hold me back as far as 423x9 goes. Once I get 3.7 stable or end up settling for 3.6 (boo-hoo right, lol) I'll start ocing the ram and pulling in everything and generally tighten her up.

Yeah, I didn't really explain myself very well, I do agree with your assessment. What bugs me is the charts in that article, the vcore fluctuation (even though it's on a small scale) with llc on bugged the crap out of me. I'd rather deal with a slight vdroop (very slight with pencil mod) and more stable vcore overall than mess with that chart that looks like a seismograph in a 8.5 quake, lol.
