Transition from 8 series to 9's

Thread Starter
Anyone know about how long after we started seeing 8600's, they got 8600M's into Laptops? I'm thinking about pawning off my PC and current Laptop to pick up a better laptop I can stick with and use for a while. But would much prefer to do that once we start seeing some 9 cards in them.

Any assistance helps.

Thanks

I'd say once the 9800 series is released so they can lower on the prices on the 9600 GT.

hes asking about when we will see 9-series cards in laptops.

IMO I think it could go either way, we could either not see them for a long, long time because laptop makers have just recently adopted the 8 series, and they probably want to make the most out of their aquisitions,
OR, we could start seeing them very soon considering the 9600gt has relatively low heat emissions, and its also much faster than the 8600s.

I think if we do end up seeing them sooner rather than later though they're only going to be found in alienware and XPS uber-l33t laptops that will run you like 5000 dollars. I doubt smaller, better priced companies like CyberPower and XtremeGear are going to have 9-series cards anytime soon

Yes, I know. I meant once the 9800s come out, it will be more cost effective to make a mobile 9600, since the desktop versions will go down. The 8600Ms didnt start getting popular until after the 8600 desktops were around $100-125. It is alot easier to put a mid range card into a laptop than a high end one(heat and Price), which is why they just started adapting the 8800 series. Id say we'd probably see a crippled 9600 GT first.
