1. Download Atiwinflash 2.0.0.2
2. Download a bios that is compatible with your card (mvktech.net or techpowerup.com/bios)
3. Open the command prompt (Start->Run->cmd)
4. Navigate to the directory where both ATiwinflash and the bios file exist.
4. Backup your original bios by typing atiwinflash -b oldbios.bin
5. Now flash with the new bios by typing atiwinflash -f -p 0 biosname.bin

It will sit for about 5 minutes, and appear to do nothing. Suddenly a dialog box will appear saying that it is successful and windows must restart. WARNING: your drivers will most likely not work after the flash. It is recommended to restart, use driver cleaner, then restart again and install drivers.

I uploaded the bios I am using, it is taken from a Sapphire e******** XXX 3870. It has no core lock and the fan speeds up/down correctly.
K so i have a problem... I've got a HIS Radeon HD3870 and like Everyone on this fourm, it's overheating. BUT.. As of Yet... Every time I run Atiwinflash, It does NOTHING... My Vista SideBar has a gadget that shows me my Core Usage, so I can see it's Is working on it, but, there's no window, no error message,no ANYTHING... and it just sits there with my second core at 50% Usage. Recently I ran it and let it sit overnight, but it didn't do anything. I've not tried to so it through DOS, yet but I wanted to find out if it's even gonna work before I do. I'm a bit of a Newb. am I doing somthing wrong? Also, where is my current BIOS stored at? do I have to put ATIWinFlash in the same file? I realize this was far from organized but I'm VERY frustrated with my VidCard overheating. ANY help would be appreciated... I'm on Vista ultimate 64bit. I have an AMD Athlon 6400+ 3.4 GHzDual Core w/ 4 GB of DDR2 RAM @ 800MHz and (as you know) a HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870
