- Download the normal installer:
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

- install it anywhere

- goto the folder and run "install.bat"
type in your Windows user name and password
"MPI is working" should be written twice

If not it could be that your firewall is blocking.
Allow the follwowing for in- and outgoing traffic:
"Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe"
"mpiexec.exe"
"smpd.exe"

- create a link to the "Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe" and add "-config" to the target line, like:
C:\\FAH\\SMP\\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe -config

- put in all setting like written on the first page.
Plus add "-smp" or "-smp 4" for dual/quad core when it asks you for additional parameters
(You can also add this th a link like the config flag and then always use that link to start it)

that's it.
Don't know exactly about the Service mode in the latest version...

It doesnt ask me for the username.

It talks about somekind of credential store.

edit.
Oh I see now. But the link that was shown on the first page was different, maybe that is why. I shall try this and see.

I can't find install.bat anywhere in the folder.

Maybe, I downloaded the wrong one? What do you mean by normal installer? I installed the first one under Windows.

On the first download page, go all the way down to the bottom. You will see a little red beta icon, click it. Now look for the SMP folding, that's what you want.

I did install that before.

I open the install.bat, it installs the dieno thing and then a cmd prompt comes up. Then it does not ask the same question as the guide though. That's where the problem was.

It says something about a credential store.

Here's the official installation guide for the Deino client. That should give you everything you need.

Thanks, hopefully nothing goes wrong, since I can't back up my hard drive. lol.. They make it sound scary.

edit:
It seems like it is running, but according to that guide, it says to make sure I have it correct there should be 4 instances of FahCore_Ax.exe, but I do not see any like that. I have a new exe running which is fahcore78.

And is there a way to hide the CMD for smp fah? It shows as an opened thing on the taskbar.

And maybe I did it wrong, but I followed everything. Still at 0%.

Urg, oh lord, I guess I shall stick to GPU folding. STressed so long for this and ended up using more than 30 minutes to set it up too. gags

Need some help with this SMP, someone gave me the link and I forgot where I got it.
I remember a FAQ that I know would help, but I was half away and forgot it.

Here is a SS of it booting.
