That's what the -smp flag is supposed to do it uses your CPU at 100%. It should allow you to do anything else though as it gives the process to what ever program nees it.

OK, I used install.bat OK, but when I make the shortcut, add smp, and run it, the CMD windowshows and goes away within less than a second.

Make sure you're using the latest executable because the other ones expires a couple days ago. You can get it here.

I downloaded the 6.23 I believe it is from stanford's site, I downloaded the new client (post above this ^). THe only thing I cannot do is put the "-smp" in the Target line for the shortcut. This is what it says: "The name '"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Folding@Home Windows SMP Client V1.01\\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe"-smp' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct."

I get the client to work, but it only uses about 30% of the CPU (100% of the 3rd core).

Also, in this guide (http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...smp-guide.html) it says "Passkey: [] You get this from Stanford via E-mail, after you request it!" Do I need to request a passkey from stanford? If so, where do I request it?

Lastly, although the client seems to be working (because of the CPU usage), the client says "Completed 0 out of 250000 steps" and it is stuck there.

Help is appreciated

Update: I got it to work with all cores. I just re-did everything I had done before, so I had probably typed in something wrong

I'll leave it on all night and I'll check tomorrow if it is still at 0%. If it is, then you'll know

Make sure you've got a space between the " and the - in the target line. Here is the Passkey FAQ. It explains what and how to get one.

Yup, I had forgotten to add the space. Thanks for the link to the passkey FAQ, I had not seen it.
