Yes it should require a plug too. Atleast most cards require a plug directly to the card.

My old card(9700 pro) didn't work.....I made sure the power that connected to it was in right and it failed! I guess ill try the hd2600 pro, it didnt say in the manual that it needed any extra power. Mine is a diamond hd 2600 pro stealth. I just got a bunch of beeps again.... I dont think the agp port is dead because my 9700pro was working just earlier.

edit: am i missing something?
I have the:
keyboard, mouse, monitor, router plug and the power plugged in

Do you think I accidentally fried something? I made sure to ground myself multiple times.

if you dont see the 4 pin somewhere near the back o f the card then you dont need one, make sure to set the agp in the right place(cause you unlock and lock it) and the monitor is correctly plugged in

Just looked at the back of the hd2600 pro, there is no 4 pin power connector. However there is one on my 9700PRO, and its plugged in but the computer is still failing to boot up. I am POSTITIVE it is in the agp slot(brown). I just cant understand why my computer wont boot up anymore. There is a little switch thing right beside the agp slot, I didn't touch it. I am also pretty sure I put it in far enough.

can u put up the pic, when ur taking out the card you have to push the top of the agp slot forward and when putting back in you have to slide it back and i am positive you have a 4pin cause almost all agps, the pic would help

Ill take a picture of the card and the computer open later..thanks. What do you mean when you say I have to push the top of the agp slot forward? I just aligned the card with the slot and pushed it inside, then screwed it on.

Btw even on the manual that came with the card didnt say anything about a 4pin power connector.

Edit: Even if there was a 4 pin power connector at the back of the card, that wouldn't explain why my 9700PRO doesn't work anymore. I think I may have fried something(even though I made sure to ground myself) OR when I didn't install it right.

Edit #2: Will a computer run without a video card?? Maybe I can try booting the comp up without one.

Well here is a stock photo of it:

Is there a 4pin on it?

I just tried switching back to the hd2600 pro again and made sure it was in securely, but still no results. Stupid beeps again.

EDIT2: 9700PRO works, I plugged the 4pin in wrong. Pics of the Hd2600 pro in a sec. Btw this comp is only running an enermax 350w psu, do you think that might be why?
