Which all in all, makes the Pc... better.
I guess you don't know the unwritten law about ALL (PC or Mac's) school/business computers do you? They will ALL suck no matter what computer it is. Now if one of those Mac Pros was yours, it would work beautifully

Good question from the start: I know I can't right click...but is there a way to bring up the menu in firefox that acts like right clicking in windows? (I can't spell sometimes )

Thanks!
You'll learn quickly. Mac:Computers::Spanish:Language. OSX is the easiest OS to learn, without a doubt. It won't take you long to learn where things are.

If you want to easily right-click, set up two fingers on the touchpad + click = right-click in the System Preferences. For Firefox functionality, Apple + click on a link = open tab in a new window (kinda like middle-click), but it won't close a tab if you apple + click on a tab.

Also, note that two finger slide (up/down or even side/side) = scroll.

Simplicity, speed, powerful for desktop use in a low-maintenance system. Some people prefer it, others don't.

So true... My Linux knowledge has helped me tons in my experience with OSX. Many of the commands are the same as they are in Linux.

I realize you were saying that's a limitation of windows, but I want to note that OSX can do this in the GUI, too! There's Automator, which does a wide variety of tasks that we, the Linux users, could do in a CLI in a GUI. I had to change the extension of about 150 files in a folder two weeks ago. Without the terminal or without Automator, this would have taken ages. With Automator, I dragged the files to the workflow, chose the action "change extension," chose the desired extension, hit "run," and boom, it was done.

What's more expensive? You can go buy the same HDD or RAM you would for a PC and put it in a Mac. That's what we smart people do, anyway.

Are there any good antivirus stuff that I will want for the mac? Or is it really unnecessary?
Chances are that if you're open to trying new things, you will love OSX. I don't know anyone in real life that has one who was disappointed by it.

For antivirus, there's ClamXAV. I had it for a while, but I decided that I didn't need it. Also, I think it identified some false-positives, because they were Warsow .pk3 maps.

Btw, that antivirus doesn't work like a windows antivirus. ClamXAV only works when you invoke the scanner; there are no background processes. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. You don't get the continuous protection, but I don't think that's necessary. So the upside is the same as the downside; no background process (which doesn't bog down the system.)

And there's also norton if you're into that kind of thing...

Oh, so true. Doesn't matter what kind of computer it is. All school computers suck.

Some stuff:

Fan Control

WMV plugin for Mac

Adium (the best IM program imo)

Download Quicksilver from this site (powerful desktop search tool)

If there's anything you'd like to know, PM me and I'd be more than happy to help.
