ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics there has been the launch of a new round of the sub-running war. Following the overclocking experts SF3D, Germany overclocking famous players "no_name" With two Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics component Quad CrossFireX system, breaking three successive DMark03, 3DMark06 world record.

Of course, to achieve such high scores, can not be separated from the liquid nitrogen with a significant overclocking, in the low-temperature -100 ℃, 3870 X2 graphics core / memory frequency was overclocked to the 1054/1150 MHz, QX9650 treatment for more in the low temperature -135 ℃ overclocked to 5.6 ~ 5.7 GHz.

Other hardware configuration including Asustek P5E3 WS motherboard, Mushkin DDR3-14400 2GB memory (7-6-5-15), Mushkin 800W Singlerail power supplies. Used operating system is Windows Vista Business, a resolution of 1024 × 768.

Hmm. I suppose i should be impressed. I guess i am somewhat, I certainly would never even think about cooling with liquid nitrogen or phase change cooling, but at the same time, what exactly is the point in breaking benchmarks? Cause all i can see is for a bigger E-PEEN, in which case, is really pointless. I mean, they spends thousands of pounds/dollars/your currency on hardware, and then overclock it just to get the highest score on a meaningless benchmark?

At least something like Folding is justified. I mean we see people spend thousands of pounds on that but it goes towards a good cause.

Anyway, as always, good post Lins.

Sometimes I wish 3D Mark would create two categories - benchmarking for practical setups, and benchmarking for not-so practical setups (yeah, I'm creative like that).

Pretty ridiculous though, I must admit.

I think it's cool, but I mean, no one keeps there computer running with liquid nitrogen. I mean its a hobby yes, but why don't they try doing it setups we can use everyday? :x
