Absolutely hate the 2nd one because it doesn't look professional.

I still think you should read my ideas above, which alot of people agreed to.

Having 4 different sized boxes looks.........

After looking at it a bit more, I think that this would make it look much better:

Remove the "X Minute Ago" on Latest Discussion, and Latest News and make the boxes the same sizes as Latest Blog Posts and Latest Downloads. I've never found "X Minutes Ago" useful because this site gets so many posts it usually always just says 1-2 minute ago. With that removed all 4 boxes can be the same size, which looks much better IMHO.

With that being done you could even move up the forum stats and gameserver icons to be under that ad, and then center everything on the screen and it would look awesome.

Other than that, it looks very good.

Yes I saw that and the boxes on all 3 pictures are still different sizes.

Out of the choices given, v3 is way better.. however the different size boxes make me want to rip my hair out because stuff like that bugs me.

My Previous Post:
We did read the feedback and adjusted the height of the boxes to be all the same. In terms of width, I am not sure really what is causing you so much grief. The Latest Discussions box and News box need the width and are top priority. The blogs, downloads and ad need less width and are less priority and hence are 3 to a line. They are all proportionate: top row = 50% each and second row = 33% each.

Re: the text about "1 minute ago", as mentioned already, it will be removed. These mockups are just to represent a rough structure only at this point.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone!

The grief comes from a design standpoint. It just doesn't look right and becomes an eye sore.

This is a classic technique used in many places. I honestly can not see where the issue is. Maybe the ad needs a box too in order to define its position?

I guess that's art/design - one person's eye sore = another's masterpiece.

Thanks again for the feedback.
