I don't really like how the page is divided down the middle. I like it how it is now because it's easier to navigate because I can just move my eyes up and down, and not up, down, left, and right.

I am sure you would get used to it fairly quickly though.

As for a donation button thats not a bad idea..however I think the ads act as the donation button.
