Yeah sorry, I should have known that was the problem knowing my luck. It's got a 1 year warrenty so it should be fine. Now I just have to wait another few weeks to get another one (I live in Australia).

Yeah but the fan not working is because the card is faulty, nothing I did. It's plugged in.

Ati's buildt in fan control is just a big failure. I use Atitool or rivatuner to manually set the fan speeds.

i have the same exact problem i had a ati 3870 with a generic PSU ORION 585 watt, working fine then i got the 3870 x2 same set up and it worked fine for two days then the same thing happen to where it boots into windows and no display..but let me tell you what else happen before that on the same day it stopped working.

It was working fine the first two days then it wouldn't display when restarting my computer, had to press DEL to go into BIOS like twice then i would get a display. what happen a 12v 4 PIN connection to my mobo(MSI K9A2 platinum) was disconnected (SOME TIME WHEN I OPEN MY CASE TO CLEAR THE CMOS,probably in the second day) lac of power to my CPU AND VGA so i reconnected it and i didn't get any display. It turns on the LED S flash and turn off that means its ok,i think......SO to check if my PC was working fine i tried a different VGA and everything worked fine,it boot into windows and saw the desktop ..so every thing is fine with a different VGA...i tried the ATI 3870 x2 and nothing no display it boots into windows and the card is on ..

I have to ask, what ASUS 3870x2 did you buy? I think they have 3 out there. I own one of them, the ASUS EAH 3870x2 (4 DVI Slots, recycles air). I love this card and have owned all ASUS cards (A total of 6, last one was a ASUS x1950xtx). My laptop, motherboard, powersupply is all ASUS. Never had a problem haha.

I wanted to point out one thing tho, you said that your card only finds 512mbs of memory. This is true and how it should be. It should be showing 512mb per core. Making a total of 1 gig. In reality, its just a marketing trick when you look on the box and see 1 gig of ram!

Now i am waiting for the price of the ASUS 4870x2 to drop! Sorry to hear you had a problem with the fan! That really sucks because RMAs take forever (not with Amazon tho, they send you a new one and wait for you to send the old one back!)
