Yeah...below where you connect the monitor to the card there's a vent, correct? You should feel some pretty warm air coming out of there...

alright im just guessing its the test itself

cuz running games on it max gets to 85 sometimes 89 when i max everything out

and on 3dmarks 06 gets to like 88
You still don't want it that hot in the test...that's like saying "oh..my CPU gets too hot in orthos, but in games it's fine" that's not good practice IMO

In a little side note, and because I have no where else to put it, and because it may be pertinent to the OP's issue...

I recently bought an 8800gt. Great card, owns it up, but it's big. So big, in fact, that it was blocking off the natural airflow in my computer. I have an Antec 900, and it has 2x120mm fans in the front, sucking in, and a 120mm in the back, with a 200mm on top, blowing out. So, this card was blocking the natural lower right-upper left flow of air that was in my case. (As viewed through the side panel.) So I finally realized what was going on, and turned around the 120mm fan in the back at the top. So now I have two separate airspaces in the computer, one with a bottom right to side-panel flow, below my card, and one with a top left to top flow, above my video card. Temps dropped 10 degrees C on my processor.

On second thought, no, this doesn't have anything to do with OP's problem. I'm just happy, but this doesn't warrant me starting a new thread.

Aftermarket video card cooling would help. If you can afford that beast of a card, you can pay an extra 30 or so dollars for a nice cooler.

so wat ur sayin is u turned ur back fan so its blowing into the case not out?

if this is so i could see y that would help cold air in the front and back and all being pushed out from the top

Uh.

Yeah, pretty much. Just felt like gloating, carry on.

Well my question is, why doesn't he just throw the GPU in the loop , then we don't worry about cooling issues ,,,, Next ,,, you will need to overvolt voltmod the card using nibitor
Let me know if you need help using it,,,, I mean ur going to need a floppy were going to flash the bios with the modded voltage ammount.. Don't know wat those ultra's use,,but we max it out... since now you have the GPU in the loop ,,, gl,
