... all your drives should be listed. If the external drive is not there, your chances are very slim that you will be able to mount it. If it is listed, make note of the "logical name" listed; that's the location of the drive, so use that to mount it (with the mount commands you were using before).

As for the graphics chip, I think yours is fully supported (very few Intel IGPs aren't). To change the resolution you could try editing xorg.conf and adding your resolution there:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
... or you could try using xrandr, which should be supported by the chip. In the terminal type xrandr. This should list all the available resolutions for your display. To set the resolution just type:

xrandr --size <mode>
... replacing <mode> with the resolution you wish to use.

Getting an error that say's. Dependency is not satisfiable: sun-java6-jre...... I have tried to download java from the website but that wont work either.
