Best Intel 775 Crossfire Mobo?

Thread Starter
In the near future I am going to be finishing a build that will be using an e8400 wolfdale cpu and two HD 3870s in CF. What would you guys recommend to me as the best motherboard for that?

Also (I'm 99.9% sure I already know the answer, but I will ask anyways) do you guys know if there are any intel mobos that support crossfire x? Im guessing no, since you only hear about it on the 790fx platforms. Still thought I'd ask anyways though

much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Or wait for the x48, just a handpicked x38, might give you better OCing ability with your proc.

Two of my friends are running a asus maximus formula x38 board with crossfire 3870's. Overclocking pretty much any cpu is a piece of cake, its a good stable board. The rampage, x48 version will proberly be exactly the same in terms of ease of overclocking etc etc so its more a case of choosing the x38 or x48 on how your budget is going.

The x48 chipset is basically an upgraded x38, with support for a 1600fsb among other things.

ip-35e has no CF,its the pro that has it and the 2nd slot is at 4x which is not great for CF.as for crossfirex compatible mobo,i don't think you require a special mobo any CF mobo will do fine with the correct drivers and cards.

ABIT IP35-E has no CF and i would get the Asus Maximus formula

second to Asus Maximus formula. Also, DFI Dark x38 is another good option.

Oh haha ok nevermind thats the one i was thinking of, not the ip35-e. sorry i got the maximus formula and the ip35-e mixed up. ok cool so the asus and the dfi dark are my two best bets then.

alright so now one more question. what are the main differences between the x38 boards and the x48. I know that the x48 supports ddr3 (which I'm not too crazy about), but do they have anything else worthwhile? and if so what is the price differential?

EDIT: aside from the 1600fsb as well, is there anything else?
