e4300 to hot for my liking

Thread Starter
so my L2 E4300 is to hot for the computer I built for my kids. I do not want it crashing on them since they live with there Mom. They mostly will be playing games on it. Here is my local shop.

http://www.nanosys1.com/cpus.html

Should I get them the E2160? E4400, or the E6550/6750? Obviously I would rather get them the E2160. Think that's the best move? I have to get it today I can't order from the egg, I told them I had all the parts last night and would be bringing it over sometime on Saturday after work.

The rest of the Rig is a Gigabyte DS3, 2 gigs of G.Skill, a 8800 GTS 320 MB.

i guess it mostly comes down to what you want to spend.
That being said i set up a friend with a 6550 that idles at 16 degrees
I am nothing but impressed with what i have thrown at that cpu for benches too.

How bout a new cooler? ACF7 cheaper than a new proc and will keep the temps down. Games dont depend much on procs so i think the 2160 would be a nice fit.

run an orthos test for like 48 hours if it doesn't crash than it will be quite stable enough for gaming and everyday use. Imo replacing a cpu that doesn't have any real flaw doesn't seem sensible. what kind of temps is this chip seeing anyways?

IT hit 61 in Orthos when I had it on my P5n-E with a AC7. Last night it hit 70 using TAT. I did lap it and it used to idle at about 28, but since I took it up to 1.44 Vcore trying to hit 3.0 on the P5N-e, it seems to run hot now.

Small update for you all..

Nano had a E8400 for 270 so I now have a E8400, and I stole the DS3, lol

So the kids got my E6750 and my P5N-e SLI. She is still a virgin, once I finish the SWG client DL, I will OC her.
