i'd say you were exceeding one of your 12v rail's wattage rating.

if the 3870x2's are like the other ATI cards it has two red lights. one is for not enough power to the card. the other one is for a hardware failure of the card.

btw I do believe they say that right next to the lights . though I could be wrong on that

The 3870 X 2 have 3 LED lights and they do not say anything, but I do believe the problem was it was exceeding the wattage rating on that rail.

i noticed one small, red LED on my 2900. when i boot it turns on for a second or so then goes off.

lol I tried at least. but then again I was just going off the standard ati cards. haven't seen the siamese twin version.
