Windows xp - logon annoyance.

Thread Starter
Whenever I log into windows, I get this small window that pops up at the top left part of the screen that says "personalized settings" in its title bar, and then says something about svchost on the form itself..well, it slows down the logon process considerably and I am not sure what is causing it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what could be causing it so I can get rid of it. (obviously I don't remember what I did before it started popping up on login...) Google doesn't seem to have any information on it either...

-Thanks

ok i figured out the problem...took a while, but i remembered i had installed registry mechanic. I looked through the options and there was a setting "monitor registry changes" turned it off and it worked...figured id put that up even though it has to do with "other software" vs an os problem...

Yeah those kind of programs will do that, which is annoying sometimes but can be helpful. Spybot search and destroy has a registry monitor that generates an allow/deny pop up when attempts to change the reg are made which can render a virus/spyware useless.

Just lookin out for you bro
