was stable, now i cant boot

Thread Starter
left my window open the other night, and scotland being scotland, when i came home it was around 5 celsius in my room

ocing time thinks i

i was messing about trying to get up to 3.6 GHz on my sig rig when i came upon this thread via google

i noted down the settings and voila 3.6 Ghz! it ran stable for 4 hours on prime95 while i watched a few episodes of family guy, i decided it was getting late so benched, took my oc back down to 3.2 knowing i would never get that at a normal ambient, closed the window and went to bed

a couple of days later i clean out my rig due to the A900 being a dust-magnet, while doing this i decided to rotate my cpu cooler to blow out the top fan in my case to see what difference this would make in temp

another cold night comes by and i decided to check the temps at 3.6

now, with the very same settings, i cant boot at 3.6 , any ideas why this could be?

thanks in advance for any help

Not sure i got the answer. but i have the same very question

"dont mean to thread steal"

I OC'ed mine to 3.5Ghz, and it booted ok and everything, then i took it to 3.2ghz, and left it like that for a week or so, and when i tried to get it back to 3.5ghz nothing, then i tried 3.4Ghz and nothing, then i tried 3.3Ghz and it worked.

Then i waited about a month and tried 3.5ghz and it worked. I have NO idea why it does that.

thread stolen already?

4 hours in prime is at least a little stable and it seems odd that a clock that could run for that long in prime can now no longer boot

as i said before settings are here: Clicky

Vcore: 1.55V
1.2 HT: 1.65
NB: 1.55
SB: 1.65
Mem: 850MHz at 2.1V
CPU VTT: 1.5V

On the q6600 why not a 9 multiplier?Go 9x 400=3.6 that should be easier on your machine, and set vcore at 1.4-1.45

Lol mate 1.65 on the 1.2HT v jesus christ ?

Alright seriously should be using a 9 Multi.

Vcore 1.5v (Depends on ure Vdrop in windows and underload )
1.2HT at 1.2V
Memory 2.1v
NB 1.5v
SB 1.55v
CPU VTT try 1.25V

so 400 FSB 1600mhz . Memory at 800 mhz 4-4-4-12-2T

If u need anymore help send me a PM

Try that

Also the guy on SLI forums is a idiot why would u drop ure multi.... more strain on the board..

board has FSB holes at around 400 FSB so its pretty hard to get 3.6 with a multi of 9

i cant get the 3.2 at 8x400 let alone 3.6 with 9x400

the settings that guy on the sli forums posted gets me into windows and with 9x multi it wont boot

would clocking my gfx cards cause extra instability?
