PS3 to PC to monitor?

Thread Starter
If I get a HDMI to DVI cable for my PS3 to be used with my monitor, I'll have no sound output since I do not have internal speakers.

Since my GTS has 2 DVI ports, is it possible to hook my PS3 to PC for sounds and then PC to Monitor for picture?

I think only the newer ATi cards support sound over DVI, but I could be wrong.

Or you can do like me and just connect your AV cables and run your sound through that. I just bought an RCA to 3.5mm converter and connect my pc speakers to that with HDMI going to my monitor.

Exactly, you can still use the AV cables to output sound even though you use the HDMI for picture signal ^_^ Makes these composite cables included in the box not so useless!

I connected the HDMI cable to the monitor using a hdmi>dvi adapter for video then I connected the composite cable on the PS3 into a nearby tv for sound

That's possible?

I guess it's possible since it works for you!

Alright! Pegasus, your way is the best so far. I'll be getting a HDMI to DVI cable this week.

Yes that is possible! In the settings menu on the PS3 you can individually set the audio and video output, so just set video to HDMI and sound to composite!
Took me 15 mins of staring at my PS3 to work this method out
HF and thanks for the rep!
