And I'm ashamed of anyone on OCN who feels to need to get a cheap processor for any other reason than being poor...because then I sympathize.

On that same note, while everyone plays with their One-Of-Our-Cores-Don't-Work core Phenoms the rest will be enjoying Octocores
What do you have against them selling the tri-cores? Does everyone have the "extra $100-$200" for a really good processor? Does everyone need to have a really good processor? Think about it logically: If less than a fourth of the die wasn't working, it would be a big waste of time, money, and resources and then toss the entire die away. Why not sell the remaining functional parts of the die? It would help recoup some of the money for the die.

Even Intel sells chips that have disabled parts. Under your logic, you should not have your e6400 because it is also "disabled." The L2 cache started at 4MB and was disabled to 2MB because certain parts of it did not pass certifications. When Nehalems come out, would you still be saying this if Intel decided to go the same route and bin tri-cores for the quads that don't meet all certifications?

What do you think started the whole overclocking thing, it was trying to get the most out of your old pos piece oif equipment or take the cheapest thing you could find and make it perform like the expensive stuff. It wasnt until the last couple of years that it has turned into a rich boys game of golf if you will.

Fan boys period are pretty lame. Even the amd ones or linux ones for that matter.

Just use whatever is best for what you do and leave it at that. Atleast in my opinion.

I'm not a fanboy - just an intelligent consumer.

A fanboy is defined as somebody who buys products from a company (Despite their lack of performance and price) simply because its from that company.

An example would be "I buy Intel because it has higher Hertz!"

Or

AMD doesn't suck, they're just smart by selling a processor with a core that doesn't flat-out work.

Brand me a fanboy or don't ... but at least I go with the products with the most performance. I'll go to AMD if they ever surpass Intel in the price-to-performance market.

Until then - enjoy the TriCores lol

That's it right there, back in the day like you know late 80's, heck I would buy Cyrix or even PNY cpu's to oc but of course that was getting like 33MHz oc or towards the latter part of the 90's 166MHz oc. Man those were the days, had all kinds of jumpers to play with oh just a more memorable time for oc'ing. That made me think, remember when even Wal-Mart carried cpu's, Back to reality

You have to keep in mind that most people have absolutely no need for a quad core or even realize exactly what it is and means.

The consumer is the winner in the end with the Tri-core's.

You do realize that these tri-cores will most likely be faster than your CPU, right?

I think this kind of statement is why you get these kind of responses.

Just the opinion of a dimwitted, pathetic AMD user.
