Hmmm not really. A decently clocked E6400 (3.4-3.6GHz) would walk all over a AMD overclocked tri core in multi threaded applications and everything else. A decently clocked tri core might get up to 2.6GHz while a decently clocked E6400 will get up to 3.6GHz. Now if you take into account that a E6400 can do a lot more clock for clock than the AMD, and the fact that you are comparing three slower AMD cores to two fast intel cores. Than the Intel would probably out pace it every time in multi threaded applications and would blow it away in non multi threaded applications and games.

I don't suppose you're factoring in the new B3 stepping are you?

THANK YOU! I was going to post that response if no one else had.

well, seeing as how AMDs new B3 quads can clock up to 3.2ghz fairly easily, I would be temped to say that you, my good sir, are very, very wrong.
because if a quad can hit 3.2, then a tri-core thats putting out less heat and using less volts @ stock will probably make it even higher.

If they're cheaper than C2Q's than thats cool but I'm still not buying one...I'd rather spend an extra $100-$200 for a really good processor instead of a "Tri-Core"

And I'm ashamed of anyone on OCN who feels to need to get a cheap processor for any other reason than being poor...because then I sympathize.

On that same note, while everyone plays with their One-Of-Our-Cores-Don't-Work core Phenoms the rest will be enjoying Octocores
Ever heard of Core Solo? Or the non Dual Core Celerons?

That's Intel doing the same thing.

Tell me you did not just bash the RV570. Confirm that you didn't and I'll let the other idiocies that you've unearthed in this thread pass, confirm that you did and I will rip into you like Mr. T ripping into a "foo".

wow id love to see u rip a new one into lekt. lol hes had quite a few already.
i love such biased comments by those fanboys that jerk it regularly to intel.

im all for competition. cant wait for AMD to unleash something so Intel can lower their prices... (did u hear that it costs intel something like 6$ to make a cpu?)
