I got told this today.

Firstly, you mixed ram, which is a big no no, ESPECIALLY if you are overclocking. Secondly, if you don't know what a ram divider is, you shouldn't be overclocking.

Check your CPUz. Your ram divider is set to 1:1 (which is basically no divider). That means that your ram is running at your FSB speed, which is 1200. This is cooking your mixed, cheapo ram. Set a divider before you burn your ram up.
kinda wondering if he knows what he's talking about.

He's speaking truth, but in a rude manner. If your ram can run 1200mhz, then by all means run it that fast if it doesn't require greater than 2.2v

If it can't run that high, then yes you need to change the divider to get the ram running slower and stably.

But to his first statement, mixing ram isn't that big of a deal. It won't hurt anything. It might just limit your overclock a bit is all.
lol. Mixing ram is not recommended but its certainly not a big no no. and I've never seen an fsb at 1200. but rams can run at that though but thats if you have some really good ones

sounds like he does to me, especially with mixed RAM...do they use the same IC's for instance?

and if you are running you RAM at 1200MHz, that's a good OC

I think I know, who runs a 600MHz fsb (or 2400MHz fsb QDR) but has cheap ram???

So if you are running 1200MHz QDR then it is 300Mhz which 1:1 would give you 600Mhz on the ram. So what is this guy talking about?

I'm not sure if the # he gave for the fsb is accurate though.

Well he speaks the truth to be honest, and mixing ram will limit your overclocking headroom.

Apart from this statement which i feel is a little harsh....

Secondly, if you don't know what a ram divider is, you shouldn't be overclocking.
I understand what a divider is, but like a lot of ppl don't have the foggiest how they work.

Am i the only one that can do the math... I would be cussing at this guy and telling him he is a retard... I had a guy at Frys electronics tell me i didnt need to buy a part i wanted and i said "dude i will call your mom if i need an opinion"...lol he got hot haha.
Ok so Mixing ram is fine BUT a word of caution A.) buy them in kits so you have two of one kind and two of a nother, B.)they must be very very similar same CAS and very related voltages (like 2.1v @ 800mhz and 2.3 @ 800mhz is a no go). What you can do is if you have 667 and 800 ram bump it all down to 667 specs and it will work. Yes you are underclocking the 800 ram but they are mixed... in the end the easiest thing to do is match them up.

And you DO have a divider... its 1:1. Frequencies dont automatically match up so there will always be a small interupt at no matter what speed.

And finally I believe your ram is running at 600mhz which would give you a FSB of 1200 and a 3000ghz cpu (300x10 or close right?). The other reason i come to this is there is no way your ram is 6400 and pumping out 200 extra mhz.
