91C Load on 8800GT - Safe Temperature? - Page 2

Don't use ATI tool, it doesn't support the 8800GT.

Use Rivatuner and set the fan speed. There is no driver issues in Vista.

Read this article.

It is very helpful.

I found I could set my fan (the stock one) to ~60% before I could hear it, it made a it of a difference.

I had a heavily overclocked 8600gt running at 96 load for over 8 months and it was still going strong when i sold it.

I wouldnt worry about it mate, by the time it dies itl be time for a new card anyway.

It might be in your best interest to looking on how to tune up that fan speed, or purchasing a cheap aftermarket cooler like an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 or a Thermaltake DuOrb.

However those temps are OK, you should save up and make your card feel cooler

It's a bit hot, but GPU's are generally less fragile than CPU's and can tolerate more heat. 90C is reaching the max, IMO, but considering ATItool will put more stress on your card with that little fuzzy cube than any game normally would - I wouldn't be overly concerned. You could always work on case airflow by getting better fans and placing them more strategically. If you're still concerned, there are plenty of fairly inexpensive aftermarket GPU coolers out there.

Alright, I'll try it again. Vista keeps complaining about "unsigned drivers" though.

Yeap safe temp, though i don't like seeing mine that high..someone mentioned a well placed fan...mines at 70c now well prefered..only real problem with 90+c is the 8800gt don't push the heat out of the case causing warmer environment.
