My creative t5400 5.1 just died and now I need some new speakers. I don't want 5.1 anymore because it's too messy and I really hardly ever use the rear speakers anyways. So I want a new set of 2.1 speakers and I have arrived at the following two choices. Which one is the best?

I think the Z2300's are better. Klipshe would be even better though.

my store doesn't have the Klipshe. So you think the extra 60$ justifies the z2300?

The x23 are very good speakers for the price but they're not as powerful as the 2300's.

Now I've had both klipsch 2.1 and 2300's and heres the verdict.
The Klipsch's main satellites are very precise and accurate. The bass isn't over emphasized and is on point. The subwoofer is the weak point....They distort very easily and cannot go very loud without bottoming out.

The 2300's main speakers are weak in the midrange and only have one driver.
The subwoofer has a very high cutoff point and can be quite annoying....yet....this subwoofer is a true BEAST. It really punches hard and I've yet to hear it distort.

Heres the proof for nay-sayers.

If you want to obtain a fairly high volume without distortion than the Z2300's are the way to go. I have used the X230's and they are nice for a casual computer user. If you listen to a lot of music, watch movies and play games than you should really opt for the Z2300's.

The Z2300's are really good. I over paid for mine but I still don't regret it.
