I know it's quite dangerous, but there's a lot of people who do it - I've opened a few myself. A bit of detail from someone who knows what they are talking about would be great - is it possible to discharge all the stored electricity from the caps, whats the best way to do this, etc

Q: Where does power from each rail to go with regard to components?

For the rails I am referring to the 3.3v, 5v, and 12v. I have seen quite a bit of speculation because the specifications have changed over time and some clarification would be nice.

Q: How to properly measure ripple using an oscilloscope and when constitutes an acceptable standard?

EDIT: Oh oh, is it going to be jonnyguru?
Thats exaclty the kind of questions that should be asked..I would also ask them kind of questions also.

Nice input Prosser.
