Temperature difference between Core 0 & Core 1

Thread Starter
Is there a reason for having a 5 celsius difference between my two cores?

Did I not install my HS properly?

Thanks.

This is common. It is usually caused by an uneven spread of thermal paste when the heatsink was squished down. My cores differ by 3c, and that took a couple remounts.

Could be that your IHS or heatsink is not perfectly flat (normal unless you lapped both), or that the thermal paste wasn't applied correctly, or didn't spread correctly (also caused by a unflat base).

I wouldn't worry though... its rather normal.

It is a common thing, because most background processes are single threaded, so eventually they only use one core and that is Core 0.

Thanks!...maybe I'll try to reseat.

The temps seem to be the same when I'm under full load.

But, I'm sure my efficiency could be better if I reseated.

Thanks!

My core 0 is the lower of the two....as we speak...19(core 0)/24(core 1)

I've always had EXACTLY a 5C difference between cores, exactly 5C always. I've reseated & repasted, lapped HS, lapped heatspreader, all that. I don't believe that it is a cooling issue, I believe it is a temp sensor issue.

If this were a seating issue, they'd always be off by a percentage, not by specific amount of degrees.

Perfectly normal, it could also be the fact they they are technically two different proc's, and every one is different. Just take note of that when reseating over and over again has no effect. Not one of my cores are ever the same.
