Discussion on CPU Info & Stability Test application

I wish to get the community involved in putting together an ultimate list of what you think a CPU Information + Stress Test application would include.

If we had the chance to put together a great application, by combining various features and specifics of other similar programs. What would you want to see in the perfect CPU benchmark while keeping in mind the essentials listed below?

Essentials:
  • CPU Information
  • Stress Test
  • Validation

Just to give you an idea, I have put together a list of some of the specifics that I would like to see in the CPU Information menu of this application.

Processor:
  • Name: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
  • Code Name: Conroe
  • Package: Sockect 775 LGA
  • Core Voltage: 1.35v
  • Revision: G0

Clocks:
  • Core Speed: 3200mhz
  • Multiplier: x 8.0
  • Bus Speed: 400mhz
  • Rated FSB: 1600mhz
  • Default Clock: 2666mhz
  • CPU overclock: 20%

These are the specifics that I think are the most important. Feel free to remove some or add some if you like. Remember that this is a discussion and your opinion is valuable.

What would you like to see as a Stress Test?

- CPU only
- Blend (RAM and CPU)
- Both

The time duration will be included in this as well.

As for validation, I strongly believe that in order to incorporate this it will have to be of the Stress Test + CPU clock only. After all we overclock to get a max stable speed, and I think that a CPU validation only defeats this purpose. Tell me what you guys think.

These are just some examples as to what could be included into this ultimate application for CPU + Stressing.

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this discussion.

Small FTT's for the CPU and a blend to test the ram.

The biggest thing though, do not make this a CPUZ mockup with a stress tester added.

Chipset.

@Retrospekt, unless it's for Linux or BSD.

The main purpose would be to display your CPU information, Stress Test your overclock and as well validate the combination of these two.

I have basically looked at what I found was "useful" in CPU-z and chose those specifics. I have given you the option to either remove or add features to it as well. Mind you that I do wish for it to look unique, which is why I am asking for your opinion on what needs to be included in this program.

One aspect that I hope can be implemented is the validation of not only the clock speed but also the stress test combined. That way it'll give users a more realistic idea of what their CPU is capable of. All these validations will be kept in our own DB.

Thanks for your input so far, and keep them coming

So, you are basically trying to make an application that acts like CPUZ validation, but only after it passes a stress test? If so, I would like to see all the essentials:

CPU
mobo
RAM
FSB
RAM divider
voltages (RAM and CPU)
PSU
Current

Basically we want to have a program that shows the essentials that you would need for your CPU only. A test to stress the stability of your overclocks would be also included in the application.

RAM specifics can also be added as they are important to determine how high your CPU clocks can go. Thanks for the mobo suggestion. I don't think the PSU is essential for this program though so it will be left out.

I thought the title was direct enough, "Discussion on CPU Info & Stability Test application" re-read the OP and it might be more clear as to what I was asking.
