Mixing Rams Questions???

post #1 of 18
Thread Starter
im gonna mix OCZ Platinum Revision-2 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 x 1024MB) WITH OCZ 4GB (2x2048MB) DDR2 (PC2-6400) 800MHz Titanium Edition Dual Channel Memory OCZ2T800C44GK, Unbuffered, 240-Pin, w/ EVP, Titanium XTC Heatspreader

So my question is that... Since those Memories have same "Timings & voltage"
(4-4-4-15 / 2.1 ~2.2V)
will they work when i mix the Rams Up To TOTAL OF 6GB will be using Xp 64BIT

Thanks Guys !!!!!!

They should work together at 800 4-4-4-15/2.2v.

(Why you would need 6GB of ram in XP is beyond me though..unless you do graphic editing)

No because since my board sucks at overclocking its P5N E SLI so... im thinking of adding more RAMs will somehow help with performance so maybe no need to OC my Q6600 with this lame motherboard

Doesn't work like that... adding ram doesn't increase performance when you already have enough. There would be no noticable performance difference in XP 64-bit between 4GB and 128GB of ram.... Since XP doesn't even need near 4GB.

Rams store memory for applications and games, and 2GB is plenty for XP unless your running a game plus a ton of apps at the same time. 4GB is nice for vista. If your computer already has enough memory you won't get a performance gain for having more. You can always check how much ram your comp is using in the task manager.

So yes, i'm telling you that it would be a huge waste of money.

E-peen is basically bragging rights. Its just a saying, if you have a big 'e-peen' you either brag alot or have alot to brag about.

Lol, no problems man.

E-peen is a short term for Electronic (man's private area). Basically, a bigger e-peen, well you get the idea, lol. It grows by adding expensive parts to your computer .

FTW=For the win!
ROFL=Rolling on floor laughing

google can help you with these acronyms .

Also, 6GB of RAM in XP is a complete waste. And I wouldn't wish XP x64 on anybody...so buggy and almost no drivers. If you must go 64bit, man just bite the bullet and go Vista, and just go with 4GB RAM. That's more than enough for today's standards.
