Yeah yeah yeah we all know FF is "faster/better/cooler" than IE7 blah blah blah. The fact is that IE has more official support and thats why i use it. I don't need all the "features" of FF. Im not a web developer i just browse my 5 everyday websites and like to use professionally developed software.

Firefox lovers can be just as annoying as Mac lovers, IE lovers, and Microsoft lovers.

Well, this seems like good news - but I really have to query the speed of the machine in question. Check this out - 2.2ghz Athlon XP; video is being encoded in the background. 4 windows open, plus a java compiler, and some other crud.
http://webkit.org/perf/sunspider-0.9...,703,703%5D%7D (29955.6ms)

It seems like they don't preload the javascript scripts? The statusbar keeps saying... "Waiting for webkit.org...", "Transferring data from webkit.org..."; could 'net speed affect it?

The Firefox 3 Beta seemed kind of buggy to me. I reverted back to version 2 until they get the kinks worked out.

It's really strange. Some people say they have nothing but problems with FF (mem leaks, crashing, all that good stuff), but others haven't ever had a problem.

In my case, I've had zero problems with Firefox. It has crashed occasionally (ok, rarely) before, but nothing serious. And the memory leak: I've never had the memory go above 180MB (and that's when I was in the OCN chatroom).

I've had zero problems with FF among 5 different computers on 3 different OSs (OSX, Linux, and windows). I'm not trying to say that there can't possibly be a problem; I'm just saying after all the talk, I have yet to see a problem in real life...

Wow, I'm going to join your side. Then I can always be right.

I guess it's kinda true, but all it is is people who like their browser. As long as they're not saying users of other browsers are stupid and/or fanboys for not using what they use, then I see no problem with raving about their browser.

Actually, I always hear from web devs that IE7 gives them hell. They beg people to use FF or Opera because those two use what is actually standard. m$ is trying to make IE the standard by getting sites to use their proprietary code.

Funny question..i got the very latest version...i just got this with sunspider lol..
Firefox 3.0b4 -- 2394.8ms +/- 1.0%
Firefox 3.0b4pre -- 3224.8ms +/- 0.7%
Opera 9.5beta -- 6559.4ms +/- 0.8%
Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11 -- 24556.0ms +/- 0.6%

Even better score for Firefox..YEAAAA GO FOX! Though they need to specify what version of IE7 they using...my score is less than half of what they got.

Firefox 2: ~14000.0ms (I didn't save it)
Firefox 3 Nightly (Yesterday's): 2781.2ms
Firefor 3 Nightly (Today's): 2733.0ms (YAY!)

The thread title should be "Firefox 3 10x faster than IE7 in javascript"

Javascript ain't everything boys and girls. I probably won't try it until the final release is due. I like IE7 good enough for now, but if something better's out there, I want it!
This isn't surprising. I've been using Firefox for a long time, and I plan on using it until something faster, more secure, and more reliable comes out, which likely won't be for a while, if at all.
