This is just MSI trying to sell cards with gimmicks, nothing more. Don't read too much into it.
Again, Nvidia is working on parallel computing. They want their GPU's and Videocards to do more, much more. Proof? CUDA + Ageia. They never stop spouting this crap any chance they get.
It's quite possible Intel sees Nvidia as a bigger threat then AMD...
So if this (parallel computing/Ageia/cuda stuff) becomes reality, 2GB of videoram becomes very useful. Maybe even required, depending on what you are doing with it.
Only time will tell.
