That's my question: how is XP outdated? How is 2000 outdated? What significant advantage does one of these successors have over its predecessor that warrants a multi-dollar bill upgrade? I'm talking about the majority, of course.

Your right mate, there is very little difference for the majority, games on the other hand force you to upgrade.

The fact that most up to date games/programs can no longer be ran on 2000... and soon maybe even XP.

Also, the big companys focus most on the newest OS, if you stay behind you tend to get alot more bugs and viruses because they stop patching security holes and releasing new drivers.

That's what I'm saying. The only reason the OSs really become "outdated" is because companies drop compatibility. It's not like XP and 2000 are incapable; it's just a game m$ plays for the $. But that's common knowledge.

Anyway, that's why I think it's stupid when people call XP and 2000 "ancient" and "dinosaurs" and "outdated." Although XP and 2000 are still VERY widely compatible, which makes it rather funny.

Looks like a clear majority agree.... Vista FTW

My Vote: I have had 64 bit home premium installed for about 3 weeks now. I kept my XP partition active, still haven't cleared it, but I havent wanted to boot into it since.

EDIT: Post number 888.

Vista on my Sony Vaio with 945GM integrated graphics = phail
Xp on said lappy = win

Vista on my sig rig "The new hawtness" = win
XP on said rig = still good, but phail because of no DX10

If you don't have the hardware to run Vista wide open, stick with XP. Otherwise, i see no reason to stick with XP.

I'm still going to dual boot though.

I'm actually writing an editorial right now about how killing off XP is the stupidest thing that Microsoft has done in a while - it will just lose them even more customers.
