But, any DS3L owners out there running stable OC that also USE S3 and can speak to it's reliability?
Also, does the DS3L have IEEE1394 and what's the board approx $$ ?

Heh, my last board didn't work with S3 (that's just standby mode right?) but I remember accidently using it on this board, and it seemed to work. I keep forgetting to use it though, because I was so used to it not working before. I'll try it again and confirm whether it works with my OC or not.

The DS3L does NOT have IEEE1394, but the DS3R does. It is a DS3L with more features, including Raid and the aforementioned firewire support. I believe the DS3R is on newegg for around $140.

90 bucks, 80 if there's an instant rebate or combo on, and there usually is (I got the exact video card I wanted with my build as a combo $10- off with a DS3L). It has no IEEE1394 onboard, and no RAID, if you care. It's a budget board, go figure. I've had zero problems with it (actually I RMAed one, but that was because I had a bad power switch on my case and it wouldn't turn on... first build ever, what do I know. The folks here quite reasonably said it was the MOBO, and newegg said ok. Two weeks later I rewired the switch ... oops.), and as mentioned parenthetically, this is my first build.

2.8 isn't bad for a 6320 is it? What's wrong with 2.8 dual core anyway? Should boot to XP in about fifteen seconds so what's S3 for

OK, forget overclocking awhile and purchase and play a BRAND NEW GAME fro a few days like the old days. You originally built your comp for gaming, so use it for gaming.
Try Bioshock or COD4.

Yes, S3 is standby.
The other feature I need to work (that most OC'ers don't usually care about) in the speedstep technology. I expect my rig to drop the multiplier when the load is low. Now the bar is raised! Who knows of a motherboard that will do this:

Has IEEE1394
OC's well
Will work with S3 for sure
Will work with speedstep for sure
POSTs reliably

Anyone?

I gave up on OCing too... but it's because either my board temperature sensors are broke or my cpu randomly decided it was going to run 15 degrees higher than normal. Don't quit on OCing, it's so much fun.

I think Asus is making a big mistake...

Alot of people are moving away from their motherboards. In my eyes, they are trash and I would have to exhaust every other option on the market before I ever bought another one.

Get a Abit IP35-e or IP35 Pro.

The Gigabyte boards seems to have a following also. Don't give up on OC'ing.

I just got an Abit IP35-E on newegg for $60 bucks after rebate...I also recommend the P5N-E SLI, haven't hit an FSB wall on it yet, and ive had it at 462 FSB.
