Fan Connections Help Needed

Hi I purchased 3 Nidec beta 120x38mm Fans for my BlackIce GTS 360 Rad, the ony problem is the fans came with a 5 pin connector I think they are USB am I right?. I have removed them but the wires have big pins on the end that wont fit into a normal fan connector. Can I purchase the pins to fit fan connectors? I also want to be able to connect the fans to a controller can this be done with these fans? I think black is negative red positive but what is the blue wire? Can I connect the red & Black to a Molex & cannect the blue to a 3 pin fan connector to plug into a fan controller? I have a lot to learn about wiring & want to learn. any help appreciated. mark

are you talking about a molex head? and those pins to me look like they should latch into a molex head.

this is a molex head...

and someone correct me if im wrong but those DO NOT look like usb connectors at all.

They are not molex pins, they wont fit into a Molex head, the connector looks like the USB connectors that fit onto mobo headers. I have an internal USB pannel for my new case & the USB mobo connectors look identical to those. I want to be able to control the fans, there are too many fans to connect to the MOBO so I will need a fan controller. The fans are 12v so I want to know if I should connect the red & black wires to a molex & connect a 3pin fan connector to the blue wire to connect to the fan controller? that way I can connect all 3 fans to 1 molex connector. As the pins on the fans dont fit 3pin fan connectors I want to know where I can buy the pins from. I have attached a pic of male molex pins so you can see the difference.

do not plug into a usb header. They are not usb! They look to be almost like PWM controlled fans without the PWM feature. I guess you could dislodge them from thier casing, and plug them into a normal fan plug header. Or you could do some fixing your self and cut the wires and then attach the fans to a molex connector, or you could solder on a regular fan plug

You could just solder the red and black wires to a molex, (red->yellow, black->black) and the fan controllers come with 3pin fan heaers->molex adapters. So you should be fine there.

I know the fans dont plug into USB headers. I was asking if the connections that were on them look like USB connectors. I have taken the connectors off the fans & plan to put molex connectors onto them. If I were to use a molex to 3pin connector for the fan controller what do I do with the Blue wire from the fans?

The connectors are just a proprietary connector, you should be able to do as Stumped said as far as soldering or crimping on a molex connector, yellow molex to red fan, black molex to black fan

Proprietary means it specific to that company.

Can you send them back and get different fans?
