Speed up windows loading? - Page 2

just because the SATA interface is faster than IDE, don't expect miracles.

The 3gb/s data transfer rate isn't even touched. If you get a new drive, get one with perpendicular recording...

Also man tunexp 1.5 works wonders, there is an option for super fast booting, and it defragments your HD drive, defragments your boot files and rearranges them in a better order on your HD, Ive used it on my vista sig rig, both my laptops, and friends rigs and it works great every time.

tune xp is on it... cc cleaner... iobit smart defrag... all the goodies. Just seems like it takes forever to load compared to my single core. The ram, cpu, mobo, are all better parts than this one except for the HD

took out the 160gb today. It's an old one and was won off ebay with a few other drives this guy was selling as a lot. It only has 2mb cache which would explain the slowness and how loud it is. I had a WD800 sata here and it's formatting and gonna put windows xp on it. Already worth it since the noise is gone.

anyone need a 160gb maxtor? maybe a server?
