Odd iPod Nano problem, it thinks its connected to a speaker set, not pc?

Hey all...

I bought some altec lansing ipod speakers and ever since I plugged my ipod into them once, it doesn't realize it's being connected to a PC. All it does is automatically output its sound through its bottom port, but wont connect with my PC and recognize itself as a iPod .... I tried other PC's and different wires, that's not it.. I tried resetting all settings top default too through the ipod itself, and still nothing. Is there anyway to get it out of this mode in which it only uses its port to output music? I see no option for it unless im missing something, thanks.

Oh yeah, what I Mean is,when I connect it, I don't get the "Please do not disconnect" Screen. It just takes the power off the cord to charge, but nothing else.

Not sure if it will help, but I've got an idea:
Reset the iPod by holding Menu+Select, Then immediately hold down Play+Select. This should get the iPod into disk mode. Then connect it to your computer and use the restore function of iTunes to restore it to factory settings.

Yeah, I second that. It's a manual reset. If that doesn't work, you need to send your ipod back.
